About The Position
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at SCI Frackville is seeking a devoted and passionate Plumbing Trade Instructor. This role is part of a dedicated maintenance team where collaboration and communication are integral. The position focuses on providing structured classroom and hands-on instruction in the plumbing trade to inmates at SCI Frackville, supporting facility efficiency and offering vocational training that prepares inmates for future opportunities.
Requirements
- Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach plumbing trade principles, methods, and procedures in an organized learning environment.
- Guide inmate work crews through plumbing tasks and monitor progress.
- Track, issue, and account for tools and materials used in training and work assignments.
- Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed plumbing work.
- Maintain accurate records of inmate attendance, progress, and assignment details.
