About The Position

This position focuses on instructing inmates in refrigeration mechanic skills through classroom lessons and hands-on training. The role supports safe operations, organized work schedules, and efficient completion of daily assignments. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties: Skill Instruction: Teach standard refrigeration mechanic practices, including installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of systems. Classroom Training: Deliver curriculum, maintain discipline, and track progress, attendance, and assignments. Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, assign daily schedules, and inspect completed work. Tool Management: Issue, inventory, and account for materials and tools used during training and work assignments. Supply Planning: Determine needed tools and materials and submit purchase requests when required. Additional Tasks: Perform other related duties in support of daily operations.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
  • Possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
