About The Position

J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is hiring a full-time Commercial Construction Plumbing Superintendent in Newark, Delaware. The Superintendent serves as a liaison among mechanics, builders, and managers and leads the technical performance of the mechanics. The role provides staff with guidance, promotes quality and safety, and ensures proper procedures are followed. The Superintendent coordinates materials and labor so materials are on site before work is scheduled, evaluates work quality throughout construction, and helps resolve complex installation challenges. The role also communicates challenges and delays to the division manager and builders and is responsible for project profitability and meeting completion deadlines. Compensation is competitive based on experience, with bonus potential and a benefits package.

Requirements

10+ years of commercial construction experience.
Experience managing tradesmen.
Experience managing mechanics subcontractors.
Experience communicating with general contractors, project managers, and general managers.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Leadership ability.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Diplomatic approach.
Effective problem-solving skills.
Passion for quality.
Enjoyment of mentoring others.

Responsibilities

Serve as the liaison between mechanics, builders, and managers.
Lead and oversee the technical performance of mechanics, providing guidance and encouraging pride in their work.
Ensure staff follow proper quality and safety procedures.
Coordinate materials and labor, ensuring materials are at the job site before labor is scheduled.
Evaluate work quality at each phase of construction.
Assist with complex project installation challenges.
Communicate project challenges or delays to the division manager and builders.
Ensure projects meet profitability goals and completion deadlines.
