About The Position

This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California for an experienced Plumbing Designer who wants to lead the technical execution of commercial plumbing system designs, mentor junior designers, coordinate multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to the continued growth of a rapidly expanding MEP engineering firm.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of U.S.-based commercial plumbing design experience
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard plumbing design software
  • Experience preparing construction documents for commercial MEP projects
  • Thorough understanding of the California Plumbing Code (CPC), California Building Code (CBC), California Mechanical Code (CMC), California Energy Code (Title 24), and applicable industry codes
  • Experience designing domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and other commercial plumbing systems
  • Experience performing pipe sizing calculations, fixture unit calculations, equipment selection, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, grease waste, specialty piping systems, and other plumbing building systems for commercial projects
  • Produce complete construction documents utilizing Revit and AutoCAD
  • Coordinate plumbing system designs with mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines
  • Perform pipe sizing calculations, equipment selections, fixture schedules, plumbing riser diagrams, and code compliance coordination
  • Review project drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company QA/QC standards
  • Mentor junior designers and assist with technical development across the plumbing team
  • Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, and internal design reviews
  • Support Project Managers and Engineers with project execution while maintaining schedule and quality expectations
