About The Position

Perform design duties on all projects while working with other designers and BIM design staff to deliver a quality product on schedule. Act as the primary designer on a project, encompassing all phases from kick-off to the completion of construction. Coordinate all design aspects with other disciplines. Provide schematic design information, including preliminary calculations, design distribution, equipment sizing, and cut sheets of proposed equipment. Conduct engineering calculations using formulas and software. Research and select equipment based on experience and prepare schedules. Create drawings and sketches for incorporation into final drawings. Research design options and document findings. Investigate code issues and consult with code officials. Ensure drawings and designs adhere to company production and design standards. Keep the Project Manager informed of workload, project scope changes, and additional services. Prepare preliminary task lists and edit specifications. Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and collaborate with the project team to produce construction documents. Organize and maintain project files, ensuring a neat and organized work area for efficient access by team members. Solve engineering problems using experience, judgment, and education, seeking assistance when needed. Engage in continuous learning through in-house seminars and external continuing education opportunities. Perform additional assignments as requested or needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering with 2 years of related work experience OR Technical/Associate Degree with 3 years of related work experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of related work experience
  • General knowledge of system design and an understanding of applicable design codes.
  • Revit and AutoCAD drafting/design experience and knowledge on reading construction drawings.
  • Proficient use of computer for design and BIM drafting.
  • Use of computer programs for engineering analysis and equipment selection.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word) or related software.
  • Proficient in using office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, etc.).
  • Excellent research and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility with workload and project schedules.
