Plumbing Design Engineer Internship Summer 2027 - San Francisco, CA
About The Position
PAE is seeking a motivated and inquisitive Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team for a 10 to 12 week paid program. This internship provides hands-on experience in sustainable engineering design, allowing interns to learn about the building design industry from a traditional viewpoint and the PAE and LUMA way. Interns will work directly as part of our engineering and design teams, gaining an understanding of the entire design process from planning to execution and problem-solving, on projects ranging from small retrofits to high-profile Living Buildings. Internships are available in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting design, regenerative design, and building systems technology design.
Requirements
- 3rd year undergraduate student preferred
- Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering major
- Desire to work in the Building Design industry
- Passionate about sustainable design solutions
- Effective Communicator
Responsibilities
- Design layout of plumbing systems
- Onsite non-potable reuse and nutrient recovery systems
- Water data (WUI) analysis
- Electrification of domestic hot water systems
- CAD and Revit
- Energy modeling
- Design calculations
- Construction administration and site visits
- General project timeline/overview
- Specifications
- Site Visits/Site Observation Reports
- Cost estimate review/preparation
- M/E coordination schedule
