About The Position

This position performs repair, preventative maintenance, and service of all plumbing systems according to building codes and standards. The role involves maintaining inventory through planning and purchasing, and responding to work requests in a timely manner within a Total Maintenance System (TMS). A key responsibility is supervising inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility. The position may require responding to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis and assisting in other areas of the Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, carpentry, electronics, or outside maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Considerable knowledge of corrective maintenance, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance related to plumbing/steam-fitting.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of tools and supplies related to the trade.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep narrative and statistical records relating to the maintenance and repair of equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and Gmail or preventative maintenance programs.
  • Completion from vocational/technical school, completion of apprenticeship and/or sufficient on-the-job training (OJT) in trade activities.
  • Multiple trades’ experience.
