About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Platform Software Engineer to join its Enterprise Data Platform team. The role works with engineering, operations, and architecture teams to understand data ingestion, identify inefficiencies, and develop or enhance tools. It calls for software development expertise in Java or Python and experience with major cloud platforms, particularly GCP, to build and manage applications at scale. The position may involve backend microservices and APIs, full-stack UI/UX solutions, and frameworks and services that support an enterprise data platform. Engineers are expected to work through the software development lifecycle and independently design, code, test, and release production features. The engineer will design and maintain scalable data pipelines and microservices for real-time and batch processing, develop service-oriented and microservices architectures, integrate front-end and back-end components, and lead data ingestion and integration. The role uses GCP services and requires attention to data governance, access control, security, performance, automation, and operational reliability. The position is hybrid and requires onsite work four or more days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with cloud technologies and services; GCP is preferred.
  • Experience with SonarQube, CI/CD, Tekton, Terraform, GCS, GCP, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong Java programming skills and Spring Boot development experience.
