About The Position

The Java Platform Group seeks an experienced, motivated Software Engineer to help develop and test the Java platform used by millions of developers. The role focuses on writing code to test code: designing robust, reliable, repeatable, and maintainable open-source tests that identify issues early and provide adequate component coverage. Engineers work with both product source code and test source code, as well as testing frameworks. The primary focus is on installation technologies—including filesystems, user privileges, and dmg, pkg, exe, and msi install bundles—and Core Java Libraries. Success involves developing strong, durable designs, deep knowledge of components, and experience across a broad range of scenarios. The engineer collaborates with feature and component teams to improve quality in networking, core libraries, and installers; creates testing tools and infrastructure; and works with engineering teams to design and build functional test suites. The role also involves improving coverage, reducing validation issues reaching customers, and making testing more efficient and consistent to support timely releases.
