Platform Packaging Technical Specialist

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

The Platform Packaging Technical Specialist is the technical leader for vehicle architecture, packaging, and integration activities supporting development of new vehicles that meet future regulatory requirements and competitive customer expectations. The role provides day-to-day technical direction to the Platform Packaging team, establishes priorities and engineering standards, mentors team members, and supports consistent execution across programs and regions. During program planning, from concept through program approval, the specialist establishes the physical and functional integration of vehicle systems and components; translates strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements; develops and analyzes alternative design concepts; packages and integrates systems and components; benchmarks competitive vehicles; and resolves packaging and adaptation issues as programs move toward production. The specialist leads an extended cross-functional team, facilitates technical trade-off decisions, identifies and escalates risks, and balances competing requirements to achieve an optimal vehicle-level solution. The position serves as a primary technical interface with program leadership and key stakeholders, presenting recommendations, design concepts, status, and risks to senior management. It is a team leadership role focused on technical direction, coordination, and capability development, and does not replace the functional manager’s people-management responsibilities.

  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible vehicle engineering experience, including demonstrated technical leadership, in one or more of these areas: Body-in-White, Electrical, Interior Systems, Powertrain Adaptations, Engine Systems (Cooling, Fuel, Exhaust), or Chassis Systems.
  • Experience with TeamCenter, NX CAD Software, and Vis Mockup.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage CAD data structures; position and manipulate models; cut sections; analyze existing designs; create and analyze alternative designs; integrate systems and components; and create specialized CAD sessions for high-level and detailed management reviews.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineers; establish technical direction; coordinate workload and priorities; and drive timely resolution of complex cross-functional issues across all Stellantis regions.
  • Ability to operate independently, exercise sound technical judgment with limited direction, facilitate trade-off decisions, and build alignment in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to define team operating methods, review technical deliverables for quality and completeness, track commitments, manage technical risk, and escalate issues with clear recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex technical topics, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and present decisions and risks to senior management.
