Platform Engineer

ConcourseNew York, NY
$160,000 - $200,000Onsite

About The Position

Concourse is an early-stage, fast-growing startup building AI-powered software for state and local governments. This is the CEO's second venture after a successful exit. We sell technology to state and local governments, aiming to improve public services by replacing legacy, inefficient systems. The core problem we address is the disconnect between tax payments and perceived government inefficiency—often due to outdated technology. We're building an AI-native company where every team member is empowered to use AI tools like Claude to automate their work. Our team has a hub in Flatiron, NYC, and we support remote roles where it fits the role.

Requirements

  • Project history—what have you built in a vacuum?
  • Strong fluency in Backend (Python and/or Node) and modern Frontend (React, TailwindCSS, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Factory, Codex, Gemini-CLI, etc.) as part of your workflow
  • Comfort spinning up small full-stack apps: API, data model, simple UI, deployment
  • US work authorization; US citizen required
  • Willingness to work in-person in Flatiron, NYC (5 days/week)

Nice To Haves

  • startup or founder experience
  • devops/infrastructure
  • familiarity with agentic AI orchestration

Responsibilities

  • Build user-friendly, reliable software for government officials—replacing legacy mainframe and pen-and-paper systems
  • Own internal tooling—design and maintain systems that orchestrate long, back-to-back AI pipelines and agents
  • Work directly with the founder and early team to build both the internal engine and customer-facing demos & deliveries
  • Help governments understand what's possible with AI through hands-on demos and implementations
  • Context-switch between products, domains, and codebases daily—you should enjoy playing whac-a-mole
  • Opportunities to be more forward-deployed and client-facing over time
