About The Position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Platform Engineer to help develop and maintain the platform. The role focuses on Kubernetes, system architecture, problem solving, and guiding junior engineers. The team works across technical baselines for different engagements, focusing on the platform layer while also delivering infrastructure-as-code automation, security, and implementation. The Platform Engineer will help automate and build a runtime production environment and connect application teams—working with custom development, commercial off-the-shelf products, or open-source software—with that environment. The role advocates best practices and facilitates communication between application and platform teams. The position is remote in the USA, with travel expectations of 10%–25%.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or in a similar role, focused on system architecture and development.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, Google Cloud, and Docker.
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery, distributed architectures and systems, everything-as-code, containerization, and cloud services.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and a basic understanding of shell scripting.
  • Proficiency with YAML.
  • Experience working in an Agile team in a remote environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with security automation and familiarity with API, container, and cloud security.
  • Familiarity with architecture security design, monitoring, and performance instrumentation in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Comfort debugging systems and reading and writing code.
  • Secret clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
  • Experience in Department of Defense work, specifically on a production system with an Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps/DevOps and CI/CD theory.

Responsibilities

  • Help automate and build a runtime production environment.

  • Understand how medium-level tasks contribute to overall goals and collaborate across teams to integrate components into a cohesive platform.
  • Estimate time and effort for medium-sized tasks and assist with project planning and resource allocation.
  • Use programming languages or shell scripting appropriately to execute tasks efficiently.
  • Own the bridge between application development teams and the production environment.
