Plate Mounter Assistant (STP)
About The Position
A "plate mounter" is primarily responsible for accurately mounting printing plates by using an automatic mounting machine onto sleeves used on a printing press, ensuring the plates are precisely mounted on the sleeve according to job description and specifications. This role involves meticulous preparation, checking job orders for accuracy, verifying plates and sleeves against specifications, applying sticky back tape without air bubbles, and performing pre- and post-mount quality control checks. The work is performed on a climate-controlled manufacturing floor and may involve exposure to alcohol and solvent smells, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and occasional ladder climbing.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Familiarity using a computer.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Check job order for accuracy and request corrections as needed.
- Verify mounting plate is the correct item, in good condition, and of the specified thickness.
- Check mounting sleeve for specified repeat, thickness, and condition.
- Apply sticky back to the sleeve using a tape applicator machine without trapping air.
- Clean the back of the plate with 99.9% isopropanol alcohol.
- Trim plate if necessary.
- Mount the plate accurately using an automatic mounting machine.
- Perform pre-mount and post-mount quality control checks.
