About The Position

The Plate Freezer Operator performs general plant labor, including operating machinery and a forklift, operating a grinder, housekeeping, cleaning, painting, and grounds work throughout the plant. The role also involves plate freezer, stretch wrapper, and pressure washer operation; inventory counts; and maintaining clean equipment, floors, drains, barrels, and work areas. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time. The work environment frequently includes high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions. The role requires movement throughout plant and office/work locations, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing or balancing, and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to read and write.
Ability to climb stairs and silos.
Ability to stand for the entire shift.
Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
Strong work ethic and a high degree of initiative.

Responsibilities

Perform general plant labor.
Utilize and operate a forklift.
Operate the plate freezer.
Conduct inventory counts.
Operate the stretch wrapper.
Operate the pressure washer.
Perform housekeeping, including hosing down floors, mopping, sweeping, and emptying and picking up trash.
Shovel and clean up spills in the plant.
Keep barrels emptied of trash and product.
Clean equipment from top to bottom.
Clean floor drains and keep drain covers in place.
Paint as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
