About The Position
This position is for a Professorial Faculty member in the Plant and Landscape Systems program within the Plant & Wildlife Sciences department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses, leading an externally funded research program that prioritizes mentoring students, and actively participating in departmental and university governance. The role requires a commitment to the university's mission and values, including supporting the academic and religious missions within the context of the affiliated church's principles and doctrine. Candidates with experience in mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Relocation to Utah is required.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a field relevant to plant and landscape systems, completed by the start date.
- Teaching experience relevant to the position and the applicant’s career status.
- Documented teaching interests, experience, vision, and how these could strengthen the BYU Plant and Landscape Systems program.
- Preparedness to lead a research program that prioritizes mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Record of publishing in quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals evaluated relative to career status.
- Vision for how to obtain research funding and lead a student-focused research program.
- Ability to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.
- Abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
- Relocation and/or residence in Utah for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities
- Teach 3-4 regular classroom or laboratory courses per year in the Plant and Landscape Systems program, plus mentoring courses.
- Lead an externally funded research program that prioritizes mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
- Achieve annual quality peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional or stakeholder meetings.
- Participate actively in departmental, college, and university governance.
- Engage in the intellectual and community life of the university.
