About The Position

The Plant Utility performs sanitation duties, line inspections, and product rework throughout the plant. Sanitation work includes line-break sanitation, removing stagnant product from equipment, mixing and handling chemicals, and end-of-cycle cleaning. The role also involves inspecting raw and finished products for foreign material and quality defects, removing defective product, and reworking finished cased product to meet hourly and daily targets by blending bags, opening cases, and transferring product to a line or tote across all lines.

The employee cleans equipment according to established standard operating procedures and may operate tote dumps in packaging after qualifying. The role includes firewatch duties and qualification for confined-space and elevated work. Employees are expected to maintain a safe, clean work environment and actively participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, shovel, twist, and turn frequently.
• Ability to wear a sanitation suit in environments with temperatures ranging from hot to cold.
• Ability to perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements.
• Ability to work with hands and arms overhead and in or under equipment.
• Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and at heights.
• Ability to operate work-related equipment.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Perform sanitation duties, including line-break sanitation, removal of stagnant product, and end-of-cycle cleaning.
• Mix and handle chemicals safely, recognizing related hazards and first-aid procedures.
• Clean equipment using established procedures, including manual cleaning and use of high-pressure hoses, ladders, air hoses, and hot-water units.
• Remove cases from pallets and rework product through bag blending, transfer to totes, or sorting cases from pallets.
• Qualify to operate tote dumps in packaging.
• Manually inspect raw and finished product for foreign material, excess vine, and quality defects; remove and dispose of defective product.
• Perform firewatch duties and qualify for confined-space and elevated work.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
