About The Position

Cleveland Steel Container, a World Class Steel Pail and Can Manufacturing company, is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and customer-oriented individual that has a positive attitude and shares the values of our company culture, which is built around teamwork, family, honest communication and producing desirable results for our Detroit, MI manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of manufacturing machine operation experience, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and precision
  • Good organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean, orderly work environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and responsiveness to production needs
  • Ability to follow established procedures, guidelines, and safety requirements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Flexibility and availability to meet production demands

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with production metrics (OEE, scrap rate, downtime codes) and basic use of ERP or MES systems for scheduling and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Pack finished products in accordance with established specifications, including quantity and layout requirements
  • Supply the can-making production line with required materials, including components, pallets, and pads, to support manufacturing orders
  • Perform ongoing visual inspections of finished products and pallet configurations to ensure quality standards are met
  • Promptly report any quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or process concerns to the Production Manager
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of product specifications, components, and basic quality standards (training provided)
  • Assist with inventory counts and related activities as needed
  • Monitor material usage (tinplate, coatings, ends, fittings/handles) and work with planning/purchasing to minimize waste, manage inventories, and avoid stockouts.
