About The Position

The plant superintendent is responsible for activities of workers in all phases of a plant operation. This role manages the paintline shift operation, ensuring effective employee relations and coordinating production activities with maintenance and quality to optimize production and utilization of resources. The superintendent works with human resources to maintain corporate policies and manage headcount according to budget and sales, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This includes training, assigning work, performance appraisals, rewarding and discipline, and problem resolution. The role involves revising production schedules due to operational issues, consulting with engineering on equipment modifications, troubleshooting processes and equipment, and applying lean manufacturing principles. The superintendent also manages special projects, communicates frequently with various levels of management and personnel, and is responsible for safety requirements and off-shift customer concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing management, a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 6 plus years of experience, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the paintline shift operation.
  • Ensure effective employee relations.
  • Coordinate production activities with maintenance and quality to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
  • Work with human resources to maintain corporate policies and manage overall headcount according to the budget and sales.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consult with engineering relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products, or when developing new lines for a new product.
  • Troubleshooting of processes and equipment.
  • Provide support to all operations through the application of lean manufacturing / Kaizen principles.
  • Manages special projects as requested by the General Manager.
  • Frequent communication with all levels of management, corporate support groups, Quality Assurance, and plant personnel.
  • Responsible for related safety requirements.
  • Off shift contact person for customer concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
