About The Position

As the Plant Quality Manager you will lead the Quality function for our Aerospace Transparencies manufacturing site in Sylmar, CA. You will ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA Part 21, and EASA Part 21 while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the plant. You will play a critical role in ensuring product safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction within our global aerospace transparencies portfolio. In this onsite role you will report to the Senior Global Quality Manager, Transparencies and partner with site leadership to lead alignment with PPG's global transparency quality goals.

Requirements

  • You must have or be eligible to obtain top secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in Quality within aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA Part 21, and EASA Part 21 regulatory requirements.
  • Background in auditing, CAPA/RCCA, MRB, and cross functional root cause problem solving.
  • Proficiency with aerospace quality tools: APQP, SPC, FMEA, control plans, inspection techniques (NDT, CMM), and statistical software (e.g., Minitab/JMP).
  • Interpret aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
  • Experience with ERP/QMS systems (e.g., QAD, ETQ Reliance)

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, AS9100/ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CMQ/OE or equivalent certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the site Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with AS9100, ISO 9001, and corporate standards; lead certification and recertification activities and resolve audit findings.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable FAA and EASA Part 21 regulatory requirements for aerospace transparency manufacturing and inspection
  • Lead internal audits and support customer and regulatory audits; ensure closure of CAPA/RCCA actions
  • Implement and ensure compliance with AS9145 (Advanced Product Quality Planning & Production Part Approval Process) for aerospace programs, including planning, process validation, PPAP deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical quality leadership for new product introductions and process changes, ensuring robust quality planning, verification, and product conformity
  • Oversee nonconformance investigations, MRB (Material Review Board) activities, and structured root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct risk assessments including FMEA and ensure preventive controls are applied and maintained.
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate quality KPIs; implement data driven improvements to reduce defects, scrap, and variation.
