About The Position

CycloKinetics is a venture-funded, SAF development company based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, focused on creating sustainable aviation fuel and bio-rubber. We are seeking detail-oriented team members who pride themselves on solving problems while bringing positive energy and strong communication skills to the table to join our mission-driven startup. This role will be responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining all biorefinery plant processing equipment in our automated chemical facility. The position involves safe and efficient maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning of bioprocessing equipment, with potential assistance in more technical maintenance procedures. Maintaining knowledge of process flow, computerized equipment, hazards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) is crucial.

Requirements

At least two years of prior experience working in a process environment or in a process maintenance position in the following industries: petrochemical/refineries, bio-refineries, chemical, food manufacturing, or pharmaceutical required.
Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
Technical understanding and manual dexterity are required.
Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools and web-based applications is required.
A strong attention to detail.
Prior experience successfully participating in work teams where personal accountability, attention to detail, collaboration, and results were required.

Nice To Haves

Process Technology Degree/Certificate preferred, or a Vocational Degree/Certification focused in technical, mechanical, or electrical preferred.
Graduates with a BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical may apply.
Experience with chemicals and chemical processes is desired.
Prior experience handling flammable chemicals is preferred.
Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
Fermentation or food processing skills are a plus.
Demonstrated effective written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.

Responsibilities

Maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant, including start-up, shut-down, cleaning, batching, troubleshooting, maintenance, and record keeping.
Collect and test quality control samples, interpret QA/QC results, make adjustments to optimize plant operations, and accurately document and enter results.
Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) and PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller) for the plant.
Support daily operational processes involving the handling, preparation, and management of various chemical substances using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Safely handle, measure, mix, and transport chemical substances in accordance with established procedures using appropriate PPE.
Operate and maintain equipment used in chemical processing and testing.
Monitor systems by observing pressure, temperature, and relative humidity measurements on charts or computer monitors.
Turn valves and adjust controls to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
Observe process and monitor systems to detect malfunctions and assist with repairs as needed.
Document and record process readings.
Report system problems to the appropriate manager.
Assist in removal, installation, rebuilding, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant process.
Perform basic electrical troubleshooting as required.
Perform daily and weekly equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
Assist with keeping the plant clean by following the sanitation schedule and completing all tasks as assigned.
Notify the management team of safety, environmental, quality, and production concerns, problems, and opportunities.
Willingness to work shifts in a fully continuous multi-shift operation.
Assist with other tasks as assigned by Manager.
