About The Position

The Plant Operations Director will lead and supervise daily performance of staff engineers. This role involves performing preventative maintenance and urgent, corrective routine repairs in electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment. The position requires providing directions to assigned personnel and overseeing the requisitioned, corrective, emergency, and preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment, and offsite facilities associated with the hospital. The director will review maintenance requests, schedule work tasks for staff engineers, and conduct periodic inspections to ensure the hospital remains in safe, well-maintained condition. This role also includes ordering stock items to maintain efficiency, performing maintenance on various systems (electrical distribution, mechanical, HVAC, power generation, plumbing, medical gas, and building structures), diagnosing system malfunctions, and maintaining records for regulatory compliance. The director will interpret hospital policies, enforce safety regulations, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of facilities management experience preferably in a healthcare organization.
  • Certifications as Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager or Degree in Industrial Maintenance.
  • Ability to provide organizational skills to implement preventative maintenance and repair programs for a 186,000 square feet hospital, Home Health Agency Building, 2 Rural Health Clinics.
  • Requires the ability to schedule, direct, and oversee the performance of the Facility Operations staff.
  • Requires the ability to work with various departments throughout the facility in order to meet facility objectives.
  • Requires reasonable 24/7 communication with the organizations staff and Administration.
  • Must be able to respond and to provide assistance involving facility systems failures, outages, and emergencies within the community that may affect the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide directions to assigned personnel.
  • Oversees the requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment and offsite facilities associated with the hospital.
  • Reviews maintenance requests and schedules work tasks for staff engineers checking to see that they are properly executed within a reasonable length of time. This includes requisitioned, corrective and emergency maintenance.
  • Makes periodic inspections, noting general condition regarding the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital in safe, well-maintained condition.
  • Orders selected stock items such as plumbing supplies, wood, electrical and equipment parts so as to maintain maximum efficiency levels at all times according to established procedures.
  • Performs requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of electrical distribution, mechanical, HVAC, power generation, plumbing and medical gas systems and building structures as required.
  • Responsible for inspecting, calibrating, adjusting, lubricating and repairing or replacing components as necessary.
  • Maintains records of maintenance repairs.
  • Diagnoses system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts as necessary.
  • Maintains records to ensure compliance with state, federal, and JCAHO regulations.
  • Interprets hospital policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.
