About The Position

Rio Tinto is seeking a Planner/Supervisor - Lodge and Maintenance for the Electric Energy division in Chute-des-passes. The position involves planning and scheduling maintenance work for the power plant and supervising all lodge activities. The role operates on a day shift, Monday to Thursday, with travel, accommodation, and meals included. The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Péribonka Sector Service. This role is based in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, while also offering proximity to essential services. Requirements

  • Commitment to personal and team safety.
  • DEC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a planning or supervisory role in an industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP software.
  • Valid driver's license (Class 5).
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six-Sigma skills (DMAIC, Kaizen, SMED, 5S, continuous improvement, etc.).
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in high voltage and hydroelectric power plants.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and address HSE risks and encourage good behaviors to foster a zero-incident culture.
  • Conduct necessary site visits to determine the scope of each job and estimate the required labor, materials, and services.
  • Prepare work orders, procure materials, and book necessary services.
  • Manage the weekly work backlog based on priorities.
  • Schedule work optimally and manage the bus transportation.
  • Organize and lead weekly review meetings and work calendar planning.
  • Contribute to the profitability of the activity, increase its operating margin, and ensure effective cost control and maintenance.
  • Effectively manage personnel under their responsibility and foster a work environment conducive to continuous improvement of results.
  • Engage the team in effective communication dynamics, maintaining clear messages and seeking employee input for better performance.
  • Act as a replacement for the power plant supervisor when they are absent.
