About The Position

EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants is seeking a Placement Representative to join their team. This role involves leading new business placements and assigned renewals for large, complex construction accounts, serving as a client-facing insurance professional. The representative will design and negotiate insurance programs, manage renewals with autonomy, and build strong relationships with carriers, wholesalers, producers, and clients. Responsibilities include attending pre-renewal meetings, participating in new business planning, negotiating renewal terms, preparing and submitting applications, binding coverage, and training placement support staff. The role also involves identifying cross-sell opportunities, serving as a subject matter expert, participating in new business development activities (including occasional travel), and ensuring compliance with internal procedures while meeting service, quality, and performance expectations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of insurance marketing, placement or brokering experience (construction-focused)
  • Strong understanding of the New York construction insurance marketplace
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex accounts with limited oversight
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Positive, professional demeanor with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a commercial insurance agency (marketing and/or client service)
  • Active Property & Casualty License
  • Commitment to maintaining required continuing education
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial lines underwriting, coverages, and risk analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management systems (Sagitta, ImageRight preferred)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, and goal-driven with a strong service mindset

  • Advanced designations preferred (CRIS, CPCU, AAI, CIC)

Responsibilities

  • Lead new business placements and assigned renewals from strategy through binding
  • Serve as a client/prospect facing insurance professional for large, complex construction accounts
  • Design and negotiate insurance programs, including coverage analysis and risk-related consulting
  • Manage renewals with a high degree of autonomy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, wholesalers, Producers and clients
  • Attend pre-renewal meetings to develop renewal strategy and address exposure changes
  • Participate in new business planning and update meetings with Producers and Sales Leaders
  • Negotiate renewal terms with carriers and review quotes for accuracy and intent
  • Prepare and submit applications, proposals and supporting documentation to markets
  • Bind coverage within company guidelines and ensure accurate documentation in internal systems
  • Train, mentor and delegate work to Placement Support team members
  • Identify cross-sell and account-rounding opportunities to support retention and growth
  • Serve as a subject matter resource to colleagues on coverage, markets and processes
  • Participate in new business development activities, including occasional travel
  • Comply with internal procedures while meeting service, quality and performance expectations
