About The Position

An Industrial Pipefitter assembles, lays out, installs, and maintains pipe systems for steam, fluid, or gas systems. Systems may include pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangers, and angles. Work may take place throughout construction or maintenance sites, including inside buildings, outdoors, inside structures such as tanks or boilers, in underground excavations, and at heights exceeding 300 feet. The role may involve preparing, fabricating, installing, fitting, and testing piping systems to applicable plans and specifications.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience working as an industrial pipefitter.
• Demonstrated history of industrial construction or maintenance experience, including experience on an industrial construction project.
• Ability to read prints, blueprints, and construction drawings, and thorough knowledge of pipefitting procedures and skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, manufacturers' manuals, and instructions.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others as a team player and independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.
• Good leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations and quantities and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for assigned tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
• Perform tests to ensure the quality of pipe and piping systems.
• Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
