The company is seeking an experienced Pipefitter for a maintenance position in Plaquemine, LA. This role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems for various industrial processes. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties checked frequently.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawings
  • Basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique
  • Ability to read and utilize a tape measure properly
  • Ability to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasks
  • Knowledge of how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and bolting
  • Ability to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups
  • Must pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy

Responsibilities

  • Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems.
  • Selects and inspects proper safety gear.
  • Selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications.
  • Inspects worksites to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that creating holes for pipe penetration will not cause structural weakness.
  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.
  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
  • Joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
  • Secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports and hangers.
  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
  • Tests piping system for leaks.
  • Utilizes a variety of power tools including electric, pneumatic, and battery powered.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Complies with company and client job site safety requirements.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
