The company is seeking an experienced Pipefitter for a maintenance position in Plaquemine, LA. This role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for various industrial processing systems. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties checked frequently.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
Basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches, and engineering drawings (for A-class Pipefitter)
Basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique
Able to read and utilize a tape measure properly
Able to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasks
Knows how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading, and bolting
Able to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups (for A-class pipefitters)
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.
Selects and inspects proper safety gear.
Selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications.
Inspects worksites to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that creating holes for pipe penetration will not cause structural weakness.
Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.
Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings.
Joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
Secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports, and hangers.
Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
Tests piping system for leaks.
Utilizes a variety of power tools including electric, pneumatic, and battery powered.
Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Complies with company and client job site safety requirements.
