About The Position

Turner Industries Group is looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our maintenance team in Plaquemine, LA. This role involves identifying electrical problems using various testing devices, maintaining and controlling 480 VAC electrical distribution systems, and troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving instrumentation issues within an active running process unit. The technician will also maintain instrumentation/electrical equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and be familiar with a wide range of pneumatic and electronic devices, including transmitters, switches, analyzers, control valves, and electrical distribution systems. The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and P&ID's is essential. The successful candidate must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. This position is for local candidates only, as per diem and relocation are not provided.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Must be familiar with: transmitters, switches, analyzers, PH and Conductivity probes, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, electrical distribution systems, transformers, single phase motors, three phase motors and motor drives and controls. Within each category there are a variety of pneumatic and electronic devices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&ID's, equipment drawings
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Written pre-employment qualification test or NCCER verification
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test
  • Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
  • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)

Responsibilities

  • Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
  • Maintain and control 480 VAC electrical distribution systems
  • Be familiar with splicing and stress cones
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, & solve Instrumentation issues that occur within an active running process unit
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair low voltage electrical systems
  • Maintain instrumentation/electrical equipment in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations
  • Conduct calibration of instrumentation both electronic and pneumatic, field and control room, and installation of instrument loops
  • Receive, inventory and catalog instruments for calibration according to construction schedule
  • Set up calibration and loop files
  • Check on installation of instrument loops
  • Coordinate and run (or assist) in loop checks, to include checkout with computer as required
  • Maintain installation and completion records
  • Keep loop drawings
  • Install air tubing and control tubing runs
  • Work start up following start up procedures
  • Inspect meters, indicators and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations
  • Test accuracy of flow meters' pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system
  • Remove defective instruments from system and decontaminate, disassemble and clean instruments and replace defective parts
  • Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing
