About The Position

Pratt Industries, Inc., a world-leading corrugated packaging manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. The position is located at our state-of-the-art 100% recycled paper mill in Shreveport, LA. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of intermediate to advanced control system problems of all electrical equipment at the Shreveport, LA Paper Mill. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, plant lighting, motors, starters, motor control centers, control panels, transformers, and switches on the Paper Machine, Winder, and other equipment to maintain maximum uptime.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from a two-year college in a related technical field, diploma from technical/trade school in a related field, or completion of a National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) or equivalent program for the Electrical Industry.
  • Basic computer use knowledge.
  • Ability to climb steps or ladders to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to lift 40-80 pounds to assist co-workers in lifting materials.
  • Excellent hand and finger dexterity for the use of hand tools and powered equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the electrical construction and/or maintenance of an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance of the paper manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of intermediate to advanced control system problems of all electrical equipment.
  • Maintain maximum uptime of plant equipment including lighting, motors, starters, motor control centers, control panels, transformers, and switches.
  • Understand work orders and troubleshoot electrical equipment that is not operating properly.
  • Communicate orally with team members, operators, and management.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Read multiple types of electrical measuring devices accurately.
  • Run/bend conduit and pull wire.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Work individually and in teams.
  • Direct and supervise electrical contractors when required.
  • Plan and supervise shutdown work activities.
  • Follow safe procedures and all safe workplace policies.
  • Ensure guards are in place, lock-out procedures are followed, and ensure zero energy state.
  • Observe all hazards such as nip points and follow plant department safety rules.
