About The Position

Pipefitters are responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, cooper, cooper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fitting utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blueprints. Installs and maintains ships piping systems such as steam, hot water, chill water, hydraulic, LP Air, fuel and oil lines following blueprints, layouts, schematics, and work orders using hand tools and shop equipment. Master, 1st, 2nd and 3rd class levels are based on proficiency, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Requirements

  • 5 years Prior shipyard experience.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Apprentice or trade school
  • 2nd Class – 3+ years of experience in marine or industrial pipefitting experience.
  • Must be able to work ALL assigned shift hours as production needs including overtime
  • Must be able to learn to read, interpret and utilize blueprints.
  • Must be able to use a variety of tools and measuring devices during this process.
  • Must be able to pass Physical Agility Test.

Responsibilities

  • Fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, cooper, cooper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fitting utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements, and blueprints.
  • Layout, fabricate, fit, and install pipe.
  • Proficient in using shop equipment such as Threader, pipe bender, bench grinder and drill press.
  • Proficient in air, hydro, and operational testing procedures of related pipe systems.
  • Perform related tasks throughout the work day, some of which may become essential to the position.
  • Read marine blueprints and work from standard and metric specifications.
  • Figure a rolling, 90, and 45 degree off-set.
  • Fit flanges and valves.
