About The Position

HUTCO, INC. is hiring a Pipe Fitter 1st for a job located in Pascagoula, Mississippi, through its Moss Point branch. The pay rate is listed as $52.00 per hour, with $180.00 per diem for employees who qualify.

Pipefitters fit pipe made from materials including steel, galvanized steel, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless steel. They use appropriate valves, fittings, tools, and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements, and blueprints. The role requires marine or industrial pipefitting experience and the ability to work across all shifts and in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and heights.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 to 4 years of verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experience.
• Knowledge of ship terminology.
• Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
• Ability to read marine blueprints and work with standard and metric specifications.
• Ability to lay out, fabricate, fit, and install pipe.
• Ability to burn and bevel carbon steel pipe with a hand torch.
• Must pass a written comprehensive exam and hands-on test, including fitting a pipe assembly from a pipe detail drawing.
• Ability to calculate a rolling 90-degree bend and a 45-degree offset, and fit flanges and valves.
• Must pass a drug test (HFT) and E-Verify.
• Must be able to work all shifts.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces, ascend and work at heights, and work under all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of setting and erecting units, with proficiency in using datum lines.
• Familiarity with fit-up and alignment tolerances and advanced blueprint reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Fit pipe made from steel, galvanized steel, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless steel using appropriate valves, fittings, tools, and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements, and blueprints.
• Lay out, fabricate, fit, and install pipe.
• Burn and bevel carbon steel pipe with a hand torch.
• Fit up pipe assemblies from pipe detail drawings.
• Calculate rolling 90-degree bends and 45-degree offsets, and fit flanges and valves.
• Work in confined spaces, ascend and work at heights, and work under all weather conditions.
