About The Position

The Pile Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of pile-driving equipment and related tasks. The role operates pile drivers mounted on skids, crawler treads, or cranes; positions pile-driving leads and hammers; and drives pilings to specified depths for retaining walls, bulkheads, and structural foundations, including bridges. The employee also assists with assembling and loading pile-driving equipment, maintains and performs minor maintenance on equipment, and works with the ground crew to meet project objectives while following applicable safety and security standards. The job involves working outdoors in changing weather conditions and around heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, construction materials, and potentially noisy environments. Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two years of experience with piling-driving operations in highway, bridge, and road construction.
Active driver's license.
Knowledge of pile driving in bridge operations, including capacities and physical limitations.
Safe driving abilities and strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
Ability to listen, follow directions, and willingness to continue enhancing skills.
Effective communication with the jobsite supervisor and coworkers.
Professional and courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned worksites.
Knowledge of working around cranes and bridge-construction equipment.
Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Physical ability to perform the stated physical demands, including occasionally lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying at least 50 pounds.
Ability to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment, and good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, focus adjustment, coordination, balance, and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

Operate pile drivers mounted on skids, crawler treads, or cranes to drive pilings.
Operate hoisting equipment to position piling leads, hoist pilings, and position the hammer over the piling.
Operate controls to drive pilings to desired depths.
Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures, including bridges.
Assist with assembling and loading the pile-driving hammer, leads, and hoisting equipment.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and good condition.
Perform minor equipment maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and refilling equipment.
Check fluid levels, maintain tire pressures, and change implements or attachments.
Perform duties in accordance with appropriate safety and security standards.
Work closely with the ground crew to achieve project objectives.
