About The Position

This role involves receiving coversheets and assigned carts for order series, logging into the voice system for directed picking. The Picker/Packer moves carts through product aisles, picks specified products and quantities, and places them into the cart. They may also maintain daily production records. After picking, the cart is returned to the staging area, and the individual may begin packing orders by verifying products against packing lists. This includes selecting appropriate box sizes, packing items neatly and correctly to ensure quality, and following proper packing procedures. Any errors in product selection or quality are reported or corrected before shipment. Packed orders are sent via conveyor to the appropriate location for sealing and then to the shipment area. Special orders are processed separately. The role also includes disposing of empty boxes and packaging, participating in special projects, and performing other duties as required. All positions are responsible for meeting company standards for quantity and quality, complying with company policies and procedures, and adhering to workplace behavior standards.

Requirements

  • Good reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Good communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • Detail oriented and accountable for making accurate decisions under set guidelines.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work under stress, and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to read fine print and differentiate products with similar characteristics (size, color, vendor code).
  • Knowledge of basic warehousing operations preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or comparable work experience.
  • Lifting: Individual products: 0-10 lbs – Frequent
  • Lifting: Individual products: 11-20 lbs – Occasional
  • Lifting and carrying: Boxes – 0-25 lb’s - Occasional
  • Lifting and carrying: Boxes – 25 – 50 lb’s – Infrequent
  • Pushing/pulling: Up to 25lbs of force is needed to move carts on a continuous basis when working with a cart.
  • Gripping with one or both hands: Continuously
  • Twist/bending: Frequently
  • Reaching overhead: Occasionally
  • Climbing ladders/stepstools: Occasionally
  • Walk/stand on concrete: Continuously
  • Utilizes hand tools such as computer, box cutter, scanner and tape gun

Responsibilities

  • Receives coversheet and assigned cart for each series of orders.
  • Logs onto the voice system to begin the voice-directed picking process.
  • Moves the cart through product bin aisles and picks corresponding products.
  • Places the correct product and quantity into the cart.
  • Places small items into bags or bands them together.
  • Verifies product during the picking and potentially the packing process.
  • May maintain daily individual production records.
  • Returns cart to staging area after completing picking.
  • May begin packing customer orders by verifying products and checking off packing lists.
  • Selects appropriately sized boxes or envelopes for shipment.
  • Packs all orders neatly and correctly in a box to ensure quality.
  • Follows proper packing procedures.
  • Reports any error in product selection or quality to the appropriate team member or area and/or corrects the order as necessary before shipment.
  • Sends packed customer orders on the conveyor system to the appropriate location for shipment.
  • Disposes of empty boxes and packaging appropriately to maintain safe and clean working conditions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
  • Meets company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Performs all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior.
