Temporary Piano Accompanist - Theatre and Dance
About The Position
The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance is seeking a Temporary, Part-Time Piano Accompanist for an assignment of approximately 444 hours per semester, with a potential for a 10-month assignment (August-May) and annual renewal. The compensation is $35 per hour, with an estimated 444 hours each semester. This role will serve as a piano accompanist in Class Voice for Musical Theatre and Musical Theatre Performance, as well as for dance classes. The accompanist will also provide piano accompaniment for mainstage musical rehearsals, conservatory showcases, auditions, BFA reviews, and special presentations. Additionally, there is a possibility to play in pit orchestras and conduct mainstage musical performances.
Requirements
- 3 years’ experience as a professional pianist/accompanist
- Advanced skills in piano sight reading with ability to play Broadway repertory
- Ability to play in pit orchestras
- Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Responsibilities
- Serve as piano accompanist in the areas of Class Voice for Musical Theatre and Musical Theatre Performance as assigned
- Serve as piano accompanist dance classes as assigned
- Provide piano accompaniment for mainstage musical rehearsals, as well as assigned conservatory showcases, auditions, BFA reviews, and special presentations
- Play in pit orchestras as assigned, with the possibility of conducting mainstage musical performances
