About The Position

Marymount School is seeking a skilled piano accompanist to support music programs for students in nursery through fifth grade. Working alongside the lead music teacher, the accompanist will support choral music lessons, rehearsals, chapel services, concerts, and performances throughout the school year. The role calls for exceptional piano performance and sight-reading skills, strong band-leading experience, and a collaborative approach to working with young musicians. The successful candidate will build positive professional relationships with students and colleagues and contribute to an inclusive, enthusiastic, and engaging musical environment. Flexibility, careful preparation, and the ability to respond confidently to musical direction are essential.

This is a part-time position following a two-week schedule. It requires approximately 20 hours per week between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., including approximately 11 hours of scheduled classes and rehearsals. Specific hours may be adjusted to meet the school's academic and performing arts schedules. The position follows the school's calendar, including scheduled holidays.

Requirements

• Exceptional piano performance and sight-reading skills, including proficiency with choral scores, hymnals, and chord charts.
• Strong choral accompaniment and band-leading experience.
• Confidence working with young students and supporting developing singers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Availability for scheduled classes, rehearsals, and performances throughout the school year.

Responsibilities

• Accompany choral music lessons and rehearsals in collaboration with the lead music teacher, including supporting students in small groups.
• Play hymns and other worship music for chapel services.
• Accompany concerts and school performances, leading the band from the piano.
• Prepare repertoire thoroughly, respond confidently to musical direction, and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Assist with student supervision during scheduled hours, including lunch, play, and other assigned duties when on campus.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive musical environment and uphold Marymount’s mission and values.
