About The Position

The Piano Accompanist provides musical accompaniment for rehearsals, concerts, performances, and other scheduled musical activities. The accompanist collaborates with conductors, vocalists, and instrumentalists, following musical direction and supporting performers with accurate pitch, rhythm, and phrasing. The role requires choral accompaniment experience, strong sight-reading skills, proficiency in reading open vocal scores, and versatility across musical styles. The position is adjunct/part-time faculty for a fixed term, with compensation of $25.00 per hour and up to 29 hours per week.

Requirements

• Previous experience accompanying choral ensembles.
• Strong sight-reading skills.
• Ability to perform a variety of musical styles.
• Proficiency in playing open score vocal parts.

• Bachelor's degree in music (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, concerts, and other scheduled musical activities.
• Collaborate with music directors, conductors, vocalists, and instrumentalists to achieve musical excellence.
• Prepare and practice assigned musical selections in advance of rehearsals and performances.
• Follow the direction of conductors and music directors while maintaining musical continuity.
• Support singers and instrumentalists with accurate pitch, rhythm, and musical phrasing.
• Perform a variety of musical styles and genres appropriate to the organization's needs.
• Maintain professional communication, punctuality, and reliability.
• Participate in additional rehearsals, performances, or special events as scheduled.
