About The Position
The Astronomy Telescope Leader is responsible for facilitating a few evening observing sessions and supporting students in their hands-on learning of astronomy concepts. This role helps ensure a safe, organized, and educational experience for students using telescopes and engaging with the night sky.
Requirements
- Completion of introductory physics or astronomy coursework
- Familiarity with the proper use and care of telescopes and related equipment
- Basic knowledge of constellations, planets, and the night sky
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with peers
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working evening hours outdoors

Responsibilities
- Set up and take down telescopes and related equipment at the observing site
- Lead and supervise weekly evening observing sessions
- Guide students in proper use of telescopes and observing techniques
- Maintain accurate attendance records for observing sessions
- Ensure safe handling and care of telescopes and equipment
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment as needed
