About The Position

Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12. The mission of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide a quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive, and personalized teaching and learning. The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School seeks a Physics Teacher, Grades 9-12, to join our caring and innovative community. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Moreover, they will be fully committed to continuous learning, improvement, reflection, and working together to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of secondary Physics teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience leading instruction in urban school settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Common Core/MA Curriculum Framework for Science and Technology/Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification in 9-12 Physics required.
  • A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
  • Assess students regularly and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
  • Integrate social learning into the classroom and work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community.
  • Partner with families, include them in students’ learning and development, and encourage them to further the school's mission.
  • Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will pursue a dignified next step.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Massachusetts State Standards and CRLS Instructional Guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their child’s education.
  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address them and improve instructional practices across the school.
