About The Position

The New York Proton Center (NYPC) is a unique clinical partnership focused on proton therapy. The collaboration between Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Montefiore Medical Center, and Mount Sinai Health System provides advanced proton therapy treatment. The NYPC team is composed of motivated, passionate, and professional individuals dedicated to exceptional patient care and utilizing advanced proton therapy technology. This is an unpaid internship where the intern will work under the supervision of a research project investigator and the Director of Medical Physics. The Research Assistant will support clinical projects, collaborate with research team members, and assist Department Leaders with department-focused assignments.

Requirements

  • Must be a College or Graduate Student, or above, major in STEM
  • High degree of organizational talents, data collection and analysis skills
  • Able to balance multiple priorities effectively and consistently
  • Ability to take ownership, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Hands on experience with medical software and MS Office
  • Must have a strong commitment to patient experience and customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with NYPC Department Leaders across all participating divisions to execute key deliverables
  • Provide administrative support by performing general administrative duties including, data entry, filing, record keeping, etc.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, challenges, and possible solutions
  • Meet with the assigned supervisor to gain a clear understanding of the projects, their goals and expected outcomes as well as maintain a timeline for the assigned projects
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Perform clerical/organizational work, quality control, and budget management, if needed
  • Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned
