About The Position

Corewell Health Family Medicine SJ is hiring a physician for its new clinic in St. Joseph, Michigan. The physician will provide primary care, with appointments of 15 or 30 minutes for acute visits, follow-ups, physical exams, new patients, pediatric care, Paps and pelvic exams, and typical primary care procedures such as incision and drainage and joint injections. The team includes two physicians and three full-time advanced practice providers. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no weekends.

The compensation package includes a two-year salary guarantee, an opportunity to earn bonuses based on productivity, and a starting bonus. The clinic qualifies for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program; selected award recipients may receive up to $100,000 for three years of full-time service. Fluency dictation and the Abridge generative AI platform are available to support clinical documentation and patient care. Corewell Health uses EPIC as its electronic health record.

The physician assesses and monitors patients’ medical needs; delivers appropriate, cost-effective care and ensures coverage of the caseload; contributes to policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care; and provides oversight of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and others delivering delegated services. The role also includes evaluating educational needs, documenting in accordance with regulatory standards, coordinating care with the health care team, advocating for patients and families, participating in process improvement, and supporting financial and patient-satisfaction goals.

Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph is a regional teaching hospital with more than 250 beds and inpatient and ambulatory services. Its educational programs include residencies in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine, and it hosts third- and fourth-year medical students. The position is based at the Care Center Royalton, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph, Michigan.

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
• Doctorate degree.
• Michigan physician license (MD) or Michigan osteopathic physician license (DO), required upon hire.
• Michigan controlled substance license, required upon hire.
• Michigan DEA registration, required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients and significant others.
• Provide quality medical services in a cost-effective and appropriate manner and ensure coverage of the caseload at all times.
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care.
• Provide oversight of Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and others providing delegated services to patients.
• Evaluate the educational needs of patients, significant others, and staff; develop and implement appropriate teaching strategies or delegate to appropriate resources.
• Document in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Communicate with other members of the health care team to support continuity of care and coordination of services, and act as a patient and family advocate.
• Participate in ongoing process improvement through clinical paths, process improvement, and related activities.
• Work with Corewell Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
• Provide primary care services, including acute and follow-up visits, physical exams, new patient visits, pediatric care, Paps and pelvic exams, incision and drainage, and joint injections.
