About The Position

Corewell Health Family Medicine in St. Joseph, Michigan, is hiring a physician for its new clinic. The physician provides primary care services, including acute visits, follow-ups, physical exams, new-patient visits, pediatric care, Pap and pelvic exams, and common procedures such as incision and drainage and joint injections. Appointments are 15 or 30 minutes. The team includes two physicians and three full-time advanced practice providers. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no weekend work.

The compensation package includes a two-year salary guarantee, the opportunity to earn bonuses based on productivity, and a starting bonus. The clinic qualifies for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program; selected award recipients may receive up to $100,000 for three years of full-time service. Clinical documentation and workflow tools include fluency dictation, the Abridge generative AI platform, and EPIC.

The physician assesses and monitors patients’ medical needs, delivers appropriate and cost-effective care, supports continuity and coordination of services, and participates in quality and process-improvement efforts. The role also provides oversight of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and others providing delegated services.

The position is based at Corewell Health’s Care Center Royalton in St. Joseph, Michigan. The organization describes its southwest Michigan hospital as a teaching hospital with medical residencies and medical-student programs. The role is full-time, with 40 scheduled hours per week.

Requirements

• Doctorate.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
• Michigan physician license (MD) or Michigan osteopathic physician license (DO), required upon hire.
• Michigan controlled-substance license, required upon hire.
• Michigan DEA registration, required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients and their significant others.
• Provide quality medical services in a cost-effective and appropriate manner, and ensure coverage of the caseload at all times.
• Provide input into policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care.
• Provide oversight of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and others providing delegated patient services.
• Evaluate educational needs of patients, significant others, and staff; develop and implement teaching strategies or delegate to appropriate resources.
• Document care in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
• Communicate with other members of the health care team to support continuity of care and coordination of services, and act as a patient and family advocate.
• Participate in ongoing process-improvement activities, including developing and applying clinical paths and other improvement initiatives.
• Work with Corewell Health to meet financial and patient-satisfaction goals.
