About The Position

The Department of Urology at Corewell Health in Southeast Michigan is recruiting a full-time Urologist at Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital. This role involves developing and cultivating positive working relationships, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration, and demonstrating a commitment to exceptional patient care. The physician will assess and monitor patient medical needs, provide quality medical services, and ensure effective communication with patients' families, referring physicians, and hospital staff. Responsibilities include documenting medical services, participating in on-call and weekend coverage, contributing to value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, and engaging in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) activities. The role also supports patient participation in clinical trials and research, provides teaching and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs, and students, and assists in the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and patient care. The anticipated scope includes inpatient and outpatient services, surgical procedures, and call coverage.

Requirements

  • MD/DO
  • Board certified or eligible in Urology
  • Unrestricted License - Michigan MD/DO
  • Unrestricted DEA License

Responsibilities

  • Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel.

  • Timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
  • Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
  • Provide quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of case load at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients.
  • Document medical services in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
  • Assist, as requested, in the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
  • Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assess clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
  • Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
