About The Position

The Department of Urology at Corewell Health in Southeast Michigan is recruiting a full-time Urologist at Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital. This role involves developing and cultivating positive working relationships, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration, and providing distinctive, personalized care. The physician will assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, complete required competencies, and assess patient medical needs. Quality medical services will be provided in a cost-effective manner with continuous coverage. Communication with patients' families, referring physicians, specialists, and hospital staff regarding the plan of care is essential, including timely updates on patient condition and prior to discharge. Medical services must be documented according to hospital, payor, and regulatory standards. The role includes participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, QI/QA activities, and peer review. The physician will also assist in developing policies and procedures related to medical practice and patient care, and participate in ongoing process improvement activities. Support for patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, including assessment of clinical safety and efficacy data, is expected. The position also involves providing oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs, and students, with meaningful participation with affiliated medical schools.

Requirements

  • MD/DO
  • Board certified or eligible in Urology
  • Unrestricted License - Michigan MD/DO
  • Unrestricted DEA License

Responsibilities

  • Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel.

  • Timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
  • Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
  • Provide quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of case load at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient’s condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge.
  • Document medical services in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
  • Assist, as requested, in the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
  • Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assess clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
  • Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
