About The Position

This position is for Physician Residency Services at St. Luke's. The role involves 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week) of clinical time billed to St. Luke's Star Community Health and 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) as GME faculty for the SLUHN - Warren Family Medicine Residency. The core of the role is to provide resident education and supervision, contributing to the improvement of the Residency Program. Responsibilities include participating in clinical research, publishing articles, making presentations, engaging in didactic and bedside teaching of residents and medical students, and contributing to resident evaluation and curriculum development. The position also requires compliance with hospital bylaws, policies, and quality assessment programs, as well as providing direct medical services to patients. The role encompasses duties customary for teaching faculty in a Residency Training Program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of medicine.
  • Board eligible, must be certified within one year of hire, or board certified in occupational medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.
  • One to two years experience required, preferably in an urgent care and occupational health setting.

  • Fluency in Spanish language desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides resident education and supervision.
  • Devotes his/her best ability to the education of the resident staff and the improvement of the Residency Program.
  • Participates in basic clinical research, publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals, and makes presentations at regional and national meetings with the assistance of the Program Director(s), Department Chair, and/or Hospital’s Research Department.
  • Participates in regional/state/national organizations.
  • Participates in didactic/bedside teaching of residents and medical students in the Department.
  • Participates in all aspects of the Residency Program, including resident evaluation and curriculum development, as directed by the Program Director(s), Department Chair, and/or his/her designee.
  • Complies with the bylaws, policies, rules and regulations of the Hospital, including the Hospital’s Quality Assessment and Risk Management programs.
  • Provides medical services to patients who present themselves for such services and to such other patients who may be assigned to him/her by Corporation.
  • Performs such other functions and renders such other services as are customarily incumbent upon and performed by teaching faculty in the Residency Training Program as well as such other services agreed upon by the parties from time to time.
