About The Position

Ochsner Children’s Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist to lead our inpatient cardiology service. This role focuses on leading inpatient care within the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service, which includes a 67-bed level IV NICU. The team is supported by inpatient physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and the position involves teaching medical students and residents. The role also includes quality improvement activities and participation in national registries (PC4, PAC3). Ochsner Children’s provides comprehensive pediatric cardiac sub-specialty services, including heart failure/transplant, EP, ACHD, interventional cardiology, advanced imaging (echocardiography, cardiac MRI, CT), fetal cardiology, a comprehensive single ventricle program, and a neurodevelopmental clinic. The heart center is staffed by 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, 6 cardiac intensivists, and 3 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, operating in a dedicated 12-bed pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. The program has a high volume of cardiac surgeries, cardiac catheterizations, and ambulatory visits across multiple locations. The Ochsner Children’s program is a leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for young patients and offers a full range of complex pediatric specialty services. The facility includes a 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, a NAEC-accredited level IV 4-bed Pediatric EMU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room and a 24/7 transport team. A new, dedicated 5-story Children’s Hospital is under construction, expected to open in early 2028. Ochsner Children’s Hospital also has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is involved in teaching pediatric residents and medical students. Faculty have opportunities for academic appointments, research participation, and publishing. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana have established a joint medical college, the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM), enrolling its first class in Fall 2027.
