About The Position

Ochsner Children’s Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist to lead its inpatient cardiology service. The role focuses on leading inpatient care within the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service, which includes a 67-bed level IV NICU. The team is supported by inpatient physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and the position involves teaching medical students and residents. The role also includes quality improvement activities and participation in national registries (PC4, PAC3). Ochsner Children’s provides comprehensive pediatric cardiac sub-specialty services, including heart failure/transplant, EP, ACHD, interventional cardiology, imaging (echocardiography, cardiac MRI and CT), fetal cardiology, a comprehensive single ventricle program, and a neurodevelopmental clinic. The heart center is staffed by 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 6 cardiac intensivists, operating in a dedicated 12-bed pediatric cardiac intensive care unit with 3 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists. The program performs approximately 250 cardiac surgeries, 400 cardiac catheterizations (75% interventional), and 19,000 ambulatory visits annually across Louisiana and Mississippi. The heart center has been recognized by US News and World Report for seven consecutive years and is the only ranked program in Louisiana. Survival rates for complex cardiac surgery patients are in the top 10% of programs reporting to STS. Ochsner Children’s is the region's leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for pediatric patients, offering a full range of complex specialty services. The hospital is currently expanding with a new, dedicated 5-story Children's Hospital expected to open in early 2028. Ochsner Children’s Hospital also has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is involved in teaching residents and medical students. Faculty have opportunities for academic appointments, research participation, and publication. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana have established a joint medical school, the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM), with its first class enrolling in Fall 2027.

Requirements

BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist
Ability to lead inpatient care in the cardiology inpatient unit and consultation service.
Willingness to teach medical students and residents.
Experience with quality improvement activities and national registries is a plus.
