West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be a member of the southern West Virginia community and be expected to practice at outreach clinic sites, in the areas of Beckley, Princeton, and/or Morgantown, as an extension of WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Heart Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will join our growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology supporting our robust pediatric cardiology outreach program that includes outreach clinics, telemedicine clinics, and outreach diagnostic testing. We currently have specialists in the areas of general cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional catheterization, noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, and preventive cardiology. WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center for the state of West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Southeastern Ohio. We have the only cardiothoracic surgery program offering surgical interventions for the full range of congenital heart defects, and ECMO program offering therapy to infants, children, and adolescents who have life -threatening lung or heart conditions, in West Virginia. Our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, the only level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, 15 PICU beds, and is the mainstay for WVU Medicine Children’s Heart Center of Excellence including 8 CICU beds. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center houses a 30-bed obstetrical unit and the maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer.
