About The Position

The Ward Family Heart Center at Children's Mercy Kansas City is seeking a full-time Pediatric Hospitalist to join their team. The successful candidate will join an existing group of 43 cardiologists, 4 CV surgeons, and over 40 APNs. The Children’s Mercy Heart Center serves a population of over 5 million and performs a high volume of cardiac operations, catheterizations, outpatient visits, and echocardiograms annually. The center boasts state-of-the-art catheterization labs, telehealth capabilities, and extensive super-specialty resources including Electrophysiology, Cardiac Transplantation/Heart Failure, Interventional Cardiology, and Advanced Cardiac Imaging. Specialized care is also provided in Fetal Cardiology, Interstage Monitoring, Preventive Cardiology, Cardiac Genetics, Cardio-oncology, Single Ventricle Survivorship, Pulmonary Hypertension, a POTS clinic, and Cardiac Neurodevelopmental services.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Trainees in their final year of residency are welcome to apply
  • Board Eligible or Certified in Pediatrics
  • Experience and interest in pediatric Cardiology

Nice To Haves

  • Residency trained pediatrician with interest in cardiology to provide care for infants and children with congenital, acquired, or complex cardiovascular conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities will center on inpatient clinical care within the dedicated Acute Care Cardiac team, participating in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Caring for infants and children with congenital, acquired, or complex cardiovascular conditions requiring intermediate level care.
  • Working with sub-specialty teams, cardiology dedicated APRNs, medical students, cardiology nursing, nutrition, PT/OT, pharmacy, social work, care management, and more.
  • Anticipating day with an emphasis on evening coverage.
