About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive orthopedic surgery services within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF). The physician will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and delivering preventive care. A key aspect of the role includes educating and supervising other healthcare professionals, contributing to training sessions, and facilitating staff training. The position requires a physician with specialized fellowship training in Foot and Ankle surgery and board certification.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent qualifications from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada. Degrees from foreign schools must meet U.S. accreditation equivalency, evidenced by certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or equivalent.
  • Active, unrestricted physician license from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
  • At least one year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, through a one-year internship or the first year of a residency in a judiciously accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Orthopedic Surgery, with no substitution of experience for this training.
  • Completion of fellowship training in Foot and Ankle, with no experience substitutes allowed.
  • American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certification and maintain this status throughout employment.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive range of physician services per the privileges authorized by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Educate and supervise fellow healthcare professionals within the scope of clinical privileges, including directing training sessions and in-service education.
  • Conduct examinations, diagnose conditions, and establish treatment plans within the limits of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Deliver preventive care and health maintenance, encompassing annual health assessments, promotion of positive health practices, and self-care skills through targeted counseling and education.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as necessary, and coordinate consultations or referrals with relevant specialists or healthcare resources.
  • Exhibit technical proficiency in mentoring medical personnel, contributing educational lectures, and facilitating training for clinic staff in accordance with established government and clinical standards.
