About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position for an Orthopedic Surgeon in Dickinson, North Dakota. The role involves providing call-only coverage for inpatient services from June 26, 2026, to July 07, 2026. The surgeon will manage orthopedic patients in the Emergency Department, perform surgical procedures, and provide 24-hour call coverage. The average daily volume is 2-5 patients, with a case mix including trauma, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. Support staff, including ER and OR personnel, will be available. The EMR systems used are Meditech and Allscripts. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

BC/BE in Orthopedic Surgery (BC highly preferred, BE required)
Active ND license (highly preferred) or Universal License (IMLC)
DEA Certification (highly preferred, required during credentialing)
BLS, ACLS
Clean malpractice history (highly preferred)
Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation mandatory.

Responsibilities

Treat and manage orthopedic patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Perform Orthopedic surgical procedures including fracture stabilizations and splinting.
Provide 24-hour call coverage, responding to ER consults and emergencies.
Document all patient encounters accurately in Meditech/Allscripts EMR.
Collaborate with ER and OR support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
