About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC Orthopedic Surgeon who is fellowship-trained in Spine Surgery to join their well-established team in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The team of orthopedic colleagues throughout the system includes Fellowship-trained specialists in Spine, Hand, Foot & Ankle, Sports Medicine, Shoulder Elbow, Pediatrics, and Total Joint. Physicians are encouraged to be involved in medical education and research. The position is located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, a community known for its arts and music scene, educational institutions, and recreational opportunities. It is located 75 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Completion of a hospital-affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months (either through residency/fellowship log or hospital quality profile).
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care for patients of all ages
  • Perform orthopedic surgical procedures for patients of all ages - except where specifically excluded from practice
